OUR LESSONS

We are offering several courses to start your children on their journey to becoming more creative artists.

Children are welcome to join us any time during the term, provided a place is available in the class.

ART STUDIO

Saturdays 10 - 11am

Ages 5 and up

£145 per term

This class is for children who enjoy drawing, painting, and working on longer projects.

The projects can take as little or as much time as the children need. We work around each child's strengths and goals.

They will be guided step by step on a specific activity using a combination of art mediums and tools, such as watercolours, acrylic paint, pencils and paper.

All materials are included.

ILLUSTRATION

Saturdays 11 - 12pm

Ages 8 to 15

£145 per term

This class is for older children that enjoy drawing and developing their ideas.

Each term, we will work on the different stages to create a final illustration, such as character design, composition, perspective, colour, etc. We'll start from the idea and end with a final coloured image.

The children can focus on their style, whether Manga, Comic books, very "cartoony", or more traditional illustrations. All concepts apply equally.

The lesson can be taken on a tablet (for digital illustration) or a sketchbook (for traditional illustration).

Linked here is the list of suggested materials.

Suggested Materials

Traditional Illustration

The Works shop (next to Sainsbury's on Ealing Broadway) sells all of the above at a reasonable price.

Amazon also has great prices and different price ranges for the materials.

I don't recommend buying the materials at the pound shop (or similar) as the quality of the colours is not ideal, and it can be very frustrating to work with them.

* The links are there to give you an idea, but you can buy similar in many different places.

Digital Illustration

  • Tablet/ iPad/Chrome book (smartphones are too small)
  • Apple pencil or similar ideally should support pressure sensitivity.
  •  With any drawing app installed, such as:

Please ensure the children are familiar with the software before the lessons, as it will not be focusing on the software itself. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube for beginners.

They should know: to select tools, change and pick colours, create, rename and group layers, use lasso tools, scale and move tools, change brushes.
